Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine endorses Rick Santorum
by mindseye indon't know if this bit of pop culture made it's way around jw.net yet, but dave mustaine of megadeth has been in the news.
mustaine was brought up as a witness, but seems to have left pretty young.
he's now a born-again christian, and has made all kinds of off-color comments throughout the years about everything from mexican immigrants to homosexuality.

Exciting experience about Amish couple joining JWs - and the shunning begins!

i believe my daughter has informed her that i dont go to meetings any more, and i think my friend is trying to encourage me.
however, my daughter has shunned me, my husband and her two brothers for almost five years even though none of us are dfd.

by TimothyT inone thing that i have always noticed even when i was a jw is that the jw org has lots and lots and lots of rules for allsorts of stupid petty rules which make no difference.
when you read the bible you see how they are clearly in the wrong here and are acting like the pharisees themselves, who imposed so much pressure on others to conform to the law.
am i missing something here!?!?

So no rule requiring parents to shun their children. If so why am I being shunned by my parents?
I don't know. You will have to ask your parents. There is no rule.
And yet, JWs believe there is a rule, which is why the majority of them do it. And where do they get this idea from? Do they simply pull it out of their asses, every single one of them that engages in shunning, or is it something that's planted in their heads by what they hear from the platform, and read in WT publications? My father, a grown man, was once pulled aside by an elder for nodding hello at a disfellowshipped person. Not speaking, simply nodding.
You can con those less enlightened ones who may be lurking, but most of us on this forum know better. We've witnessed and experienced first-hand what you claim there is no "rule" about.

Why was the black kid never invited to any of the parties?
Was there more to the nature of the relationship between Peppermint Patty and Marcy then what we were told, a dynamic too taboo to be addressed in a child's comic strip?
